Precision glazing, perfected for a hillside architectural home
This custom home by Jayson Pate Design and constructed by Resolve Constructions, required a glazing package that supported an architectural focus on natural light, views and seamless connections to the landscape. The site’s steep terrain and limited access created a complex environment for both delivery and installation, calling for careful planning and considered handling.

Project setting and design intent
The home features expansive openings, detailed junctions and custom arched elements that anchor the design within its elevated setting. Meeting the architect’s visual goals while maintaining structural performance across several orientations and exposure conditions was a major consideration during the product selection phase.

G.James scope of work
G.James supplied and installed a full glazing package combining residential and commercial systems to meet the performance, scale and detailing required. Systems included:
• 445 & 246 Series sliding doors
• 475 Series arched fixed windows
• 475 Series louvre/fixed window combinations
• 475 Series awning windows
• 475 Series SBJ corner fixed windows
The glass specification Solect® Clear Laminate, necessary to satisfy the project’s window energy rating requirements.

Managing challenging site conditions
Steep terrain, evolving ground conditions, and restricted access made for challenging logistics, particularly the movement of large door and fixed window panels. With staging areas limited, installation needed a coordinated lifting strategy and specialist handling equipment.
The team utilised an 80-tonne crane to lower the larger panels into position. A spider crane was then lowered into the courtyard to complete the complex glazing. Close coordination with site crews ensured safe, accurate placement, and installation was delivered to specification within compressed timeframes and challenging site conditions.
Outcome
The completed glazing package supports the home’s architectural form and open visual connections. Large expansive openings, custom arched windows and refined junctions create continuity between interior spaces and the surrounding views. At the same time, the combination of systems provides functionality and long-term performance.
